Over 100 union members came together to plan for our sector

10 August 2022

Support from new Social Services Minister Amanda Rishworth MP welcomed

In a huge day of celebration, wins and future planning, delegates came together from across NSW and ACT.

We celebrated the historic achievement of the We Won't Wait campaign 10 days paid domestic violence leave  in the National Employment Standards reaching parliament.

We then welcomed Amanda Rishworth MP to join us and she congratulated ASU members for leading the campaign for the past decade.

"I want to acknowledge the burden of working with vulnerable people during the pandemic. Labor will give the sector the voice and respect it deserves" Rishworth said.

Ms Rishworth then announced her government would support our Civil Society Claims for extended funding cycles and proper indexation of our sector.

The new government's support is a massive win in a long, member-led campaign.

ACT member Mabel said "It helps me to feel strong in the union and confident to have the union to fall on"
