Vale Zomi Frankcom

Lalzawmi “Zomi” Frankcom, an Australian aid worker, has been killed by an Israeli air strike in Gaza.

Zomi was dedicated to providing essential support through World Central Kitchen to the people of Gaza, and her death, along with four others, is a profound loss.

As the Australian Services Union, representing aid workers, NGOs, and charities, we grieve the loss of Zomi Frankcom and stand in solidarity with her mission of compassion and assistance.

We repeat our urgent calls for an immediate ceasefire and increased humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering in Gaza. The ongoing conflict has already claimed the lives of thousands, highlighting the critical need for peace and support for the people of Gaza.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has emphasized the importance of accountability and protection for aid workers and civilians, condemning the tragic incident. We echo his sentiments and demand justice for Zomi and her colleagues, who dedicated their lives to helping others.
