QUADRENNIAL ELECTION NOTICE
Officers of the Union are elected every four years and all eligible members are entitled to run for Branch offices.
Branch Nominations open on Wednesday 3 May 2023 and close at 4 pm on Wednesday 24 May 2023
National Nominations will open following the completion of the Branch elections.

ASU elections are conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC).

The Nomination Notices will also be published on the AEC website. Nominations forms (team and individual) for a Branch Office can also be obtained from the AEC.
The elections are conducted under the rules of the Union and the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009.
ASU members are urged to make sure the Union has their correct address as the elections will be conducted by post with the AEC posting ballot papers to home addresses. Update your details here.

ASU AUDITED ACCOUNTS, FINANCIAL STATEMENTS, OPERATING REPORT AND OFFICER & RELATED PARTY DISCLOSURE STATEMENT
ASU OF NSW & ACT (SERVICES) BRANCH
The ASU is an employee organisation (union) registered under the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009. The ASU is governed by this Act and the ASU Rules which set out the way the ASU is run and is responsible to its members.
The Act and the ASU Rules, particularly Rule 57, require that financial statements, operating reports and other disclosures are made available to members. All disclosures are included and made available to the membership at the end of the financial year via the Operating Report which forms part of the Audited Financial Statements.

Section 293J of the Act requires the Branch to make the Officer and Related Party Disclosure Statement available to members within 6 months of the end of the financial year.

ASU OF NSW
The ASU of NSW is a State organisation governed by the Industrial Relations Act 1991 and the Industrial Relations Regulation 1992 which states that organisations must provide free of charge to members of the organisation a copy of the relevant accounts, certificates and auditor’s report. Furthermore, the Act provides that:
s. 512 (1) A member of an organisation, or the Industrial Registrar, may apply to the organisation for specified information prescribed by the regulations in relation to the organisation [Industrial Relations Regulation 1992, clause 60]; and 2) An organisation must, on the making of such an application, make the specified information available to the member or the Industrial Registrar in the manner, and within the time, prescribed by the regulations.
